Who is responsible

Magnús Lyngdal Magnússon, the editor of Beethoven.is, is responsible for the personal data handled on this site. Questions go to [email protected].

Hosting

Sumarhús hosts and runs the site on the editor’s behalf, as a processor, on a server in Helsinki, Finland, within the European Economic Area. Cloudflare delivers the site to visitors and protects it.

Visitors

The site itself sets no cookies for visitors. There is no tracking and no advertising or analytics tools. If you switch between the light and dark theme, your browser remembers the choice itself; it is never sent to us.

What the player remembers

If you listen to segments on the Icelandic pages, your browser remembers what you have heard, where you were in each segment, your queue, the playback speed and whether the next segment plays by itself. That way you can leave, come back and carry on where you stopped.

This stays in this browser only, in its local storage. It is not a cookie and it is never sent to us. It is gone when you clear your browser data, or when you press „Gleyma hlustunarsögu“ (forget listening history) in the player or at the foot of the Morgunvaktin page.

Cloudflare processes visitors' IP addresses to deliver the site and keep it secure, and keeps them in its logs for a short time. Our own server does not keep a log of visits.

Cloudflare also keeps its own aggregate traffic statistics, such as which countries visitors come from and which pages are viewed. They are anonymous and use no cookies.

Editors

Editors sign in with their email address, and a login cookie keeps them signed in for up to 30 days. In the editors' dashboard, an editor's name is shown with the changes they make. Invitations and password-reset links are sent from Sumarhús's mail server.

Your rights

You may ask what data about you is processed, and have it corrected or deleted: write to [email protected]. If you believe your rights have not been respected, you can complain to the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, Persónuvernd (personuvernd.is).
